Any questions can be emailed to events@barwars.info and the question and answer will be posted below and is the competitors job to check this page daily to stay updated…

Q: Can we use campari in a competitors choice bottle? Or must it be in it’s original bottle?

A: Original bottle. Juices only in competitor choice bottle.
Q: Can I use any competitor choice bottle that’s not rum without a label?
A: Competitor choice bottles are clear unlabeled bottles for juice only if it’s in your recipe for your specialty cocktail. No electrical tape, not tinted glass, no stickers, no distinguishing marks or elements, … “clear unlabeled bottles” only.
Q: Simple syrup counts as juice right?
A: No. Juice would be juices such as but not limited to cranberry juice, orange juice, apple juice, etc…

Simple syrup is a syrup and would be Finest Call as they make that.

Q: Would I we allowed to use a Monin syrup (or something similar) in my specialty drink? If so, would I need it in a labeled or unlabeled bottle?

A: As long as it’s not a competing flavor of Finest Call Or Real Syrups and it would be in it’s original packaging and label then Yes.

Q: Can the Plantation bottle for the first drink can be set at any level? In other words, no mandatory working flair?
A: (From the Rules)
• On stage their will be a back bar with various expressions of Plantation Rum set half full. So in other words Mandatory Working Flair.
Q: Also, can I use any non rum bottle for competitors choice with the label, like Tito’s for example?
A: If you want to use a bottle with a label on it for your Specialty Cocktail and its not a competing product of a sponsor, that bottle has to be in your recipe and that spirit poured for your Specialty Cocktail.
Competitors choice bottles are for juices that are included in your submitted recipe for your Specialty Cocktail. Competitor choice bottles are clear unlabeled bottles for juice only if it’s in your recipe for your specialty cocktail. No electrical tape, not tinted glass, no stickers, no distinguishing marks or elements, … “clear unlabeled bottles” only.
Q: Lastly, can we set competitor choice bottles at a quarter ounce?
A: Yes you can set your Competitor choice and other spirits for your Specialty Cocktail to any level as long as you have enough to pour for your submitted recipe.
Q: And a follow up to the last question: can I use a dkyper bottle as a competitors choice with the label?
A; If you want to use a Dekyper bottle with a label for your Specialty Cocktail, it must be that spirit (and only that spirit) in the bottle and used in your recipe for your Specialty Cocktail. For example if you want to use Dekyper Triple Sec bottles… then you have to have Dekyper Triple Sec in your recipe for your Specialty Cocktail.
Competitor choice bottles are clear unlabeled bottles for juice only if it’s in your recipe for your specialty cocktail. No electrical tape, not tinted glass, no stickers, no distinguishing marks or elements, … “clear unlabeled bottles” only.
Q: Is it okay to use confetti blasters and dry ice for my routine?

A: No to confetti blasters as the city would not be ok with us littering the beach. Dry ice, Yes as long as it’s not possible for the tasting judges possibly ingesting the dry ice.

Q: Is the daiquiri supposed to be a flavored daq, since the rules say to use Real syrups?

A: Yes, you pick the recipe of Plantation Rum, Finest Call Single Press and Reàl Syrups that is offered as that is being judged for Mixology as well.
Q: Will the whole line of Plantation Rum be available?
A: Just what is on the bar layout in the rules.
Q: Can I put egg whites in a squirt bottle?
A: Yes you can put egg whites in a squirt bottle.
Q: I have a question , do we have to use clean music ?
A: Yes, it is a family restaurant.
Q: Do you all have crushed or shaved ice at Tiki Ono?
A: Standard ice is what we are supplying for the comp… BUT you might be able to sweet talk the bartender at Tiki ‘Ono for shaved ice as well
Q: What flavors of Real Syrups and Finest Call will be available?
A: It’s on the bar layout in the rules.
Q: Can we start with anything on top of the bar?
A: Yes as long as you don’t move anything on the bar layout.
Q: Will this be streaming anywhere?
A: Yes, Dean Serneels & Allison Scott will be streaming it.
Q: What is the closest airport to fly into?
A: West Palm Beach, Fl (PBI).
Q: Question Can the daiquiri be a hotel national can I trow the cocktail After shake quick trow
A: Recipe is those three ingredients that you choose and amounts… but if you want to throw the cocktail after or before shaking it… YES that’s ok.
Q: The daiquiri have to be made with finest call lime ?
A: You can use Finest Call Single Pressed Lime, Lemon or combination of both.
Q: Can I change the FC sour for FC pressed lime that’s in front of me by the ice (position 11)? Also, can I have plantation bottles in the “available” positions in the well (even if I have to bring those bottles from home as to not disrupt your display? And can I have ReAls on the bar if I bring them from home as well? The plantation bottle for my specialty drink can be set at any level right?
A: No you cannot change anything on the bar layout before your round starts. Only add to it with items not already on the bar layout.
The Plantation bottles on the bar layout are going to be set half full for Working Flair… Plantation O.F.T.D. (1 liter), Plantation Pineapple (750ml), Plantation 3 Stars (750 ml) and Plantation Dark (750 ml) and only those bottles of that product are allowed on stage…
If you would like to add any other 750ml or 1 liter bottle expressions of Plantation Rum not on the bar layout (Plantation Fiji, Plantation XO, Plantation Xaymaca, Plantation Black Cask, Plantation Barbados or Plantation Grande Reserve) and put them in the “Available” in your well you can set only those bottles of Plantation Rum along with any other bottles for your Specialty Cocktail to any amount you like as long as you have enough for your recipe.
This is stated in the rules “Competitors May utilize any additional store bought ingredients, glassware, ice, garnishes, etc… in their Specialty Cocktail they wish as long as they supply it themselves”.
Q: Are we ok with glassware starting on the bartop? Didn’t see anything about that on the rules?
A: Yes as long as you don’t move anything else on the bar layout.
Q: when do we have to send the recipe ?
Since we don’t have it in the rules, can we just give the recipes the day of?
A: Correct, for the competition purposes… you’re recipe in writing isn’t due until registration the day of the competition.
Q: Will Finest Call Orgeat and Real passion fruit be available?? Is there a grace period for going over time?
A: Passion Fruit Real is on the bar layout in the rules as spot #35. Finest Call Orgeat will not be provided for this event as the only things provided for this event are on the bar layout but you are more then welcome to supply it yourself for your Specialty Cocktail.
At the end of five minutes, time will be called and your hands go in the air.
UPDATE: VENUE CHANGE FROM TIKI ‘ONO (OUTSIDE) TO THE IMPROV (INSIDE) FOR THE COMPETITION AS WELL AS ITINERARY CHANGE.
Q: Can we use any pour spouts for competitor choice bottles and if so are we allowed a strip of tape to keep them in place?
A: Yes, you can use any pour spouts for your competitor choice bottle but No tape is allowed on the bottles per the rules. Stated above… Competitor choice bottles are clear unlabeled bottles for juice only if it’s in your recipe for your specialty cocktail. No electrical tape, not tinted glass, no stickers, no distinguishing marks or elements, … “clear unlabeled bottles” only.
Q: Hey brotha I know I’m late to all the stuff…. in my defense I run a Irish pub right before st paddys lol….but can I add a cocktails smoker to my items for the custom cocktail?

A: Yes, you can as long as you supply it.
Q: So my question is are we allowed to use the plantation bottle that is set for working flair for exhibition flair once it gets to that level?? And will my Bacardi bottle be allowed if I take off all labels and have it clear?? Also I’m excited for this competition, it’s definitely a challenge.. can’t wait!
A: The Plantation bottles are going to be set half full per the rules…Once you utilize and pour our what you need for your recipe you are allowed to keep Flairing with that bottle. However, if you deliberately pour out more booze then needed for your recipe just to empty a working flair bottle to exhibition level and not utilize that booze poured into your cocktail for the tasting judges… that would be in the “Unsportsmanlike Conduct” area and could be grounds for disqualification.
As far as the Bacardi bottle… besides the label… as stated above… “Competitor choice bottles are clear unlabeled bottles for juice only if it’s in your recipe for your specialty cocktail. No electrical tape, not tinted glass, no stickers, no distinguishing marks or elements, … “clear unlabeled bottles” only.”… If any bottle has a distinguishing mark or element in the glass… such as a logo or name… then no.
Q: Is the free pour during the 5 minutes, is the amount chosen at random and lastly, is there an 1/8 ounce variance?
A: The free pour for the comp is during the 5 minute round and will be chosen at random right before the round starts. Yes, you are allowed 1/8 oz variance. The Most Accurate Bartender is a separate contest open to competitors, the crowd, judges, pretty much anybody in the room done on a separate bar off stage.

Good to luck to all of the competitors!
